MINOR PAPER
January 23, 2016

Seminar Overview

Last January 23, 2016, we had our minor field trip in the Social Hall. The event title was Graphic Design and Web Development. In which it is a great opportunity to learn about graphic design and web development, there were two topics introduced to us where the first speaker share his knowledge about graphic tools and the fundamentals of design. In the morning session, some speakers that are working on the industry for some time were invited to give us some inputs and inspire us to be better. I was excited for the event because I know that in the end of the seminar, I know I would be able to gain knowledge and get inspired with the speakers that were invited of the said event. The event was a success and I learned a lot in this activity.

First Speaker

The first speaker who delivered his topic was Ralph Gideon, he is one of the alumnae of the USEP (University of Southeastern Philippines). Before he proceed to his topic he introduced himself to everybody. According to him his first work was on Professional Regulation Commission as a programmer. He told us his experiences in life especially the kind of work his looking for in which he loves art. After he graduated, his first job was being a programmer in PRC or Professional Regulation Commission.  he share his knowledge and experiences with us about the Elements and Design Principles. In which he combined Arts and Information Technology to present to us. He said that the elements and principles of design are the building blocks which are the things that make up a design or build a design. And how we apply these principles of design to determine how successful the design is. There are 5 principles of design: Balance, Proportion, Rhythm, Emphasis, and, Unity. Balance is the concept of visual equilibrium, and relates to our physical sense of balance. The First principle is the Balance,  he said that Balance in design is a bit similar to  balance in physics. Mr. Ralph said that the elements should be visually connected in some way. Third Principle, is the Alignment, it is an element to create order and organization in a design, He said that aligning elements in order allows them to create a visual connection with each other.  We learned a lot from Mr. Ralph and hopefully we can apply what we learned from him to real world applications.

Second Speaker

The second speaker was Ms. Shannen Sapar. She studied BS Information Technology in the University of Immaculate Concepcion. She shared that being a front-end developer was a very big challenge to her at first, but she made it through by learning something new every single day. Ms. Shannen starts the discussion and she share her knowledge and experiences with us about being a front end web developer. But first what is a  front end web development, a front end web development is a mix of programming and layout that powers the visuals and interactions of the web. And these topics are the key in making a front-end project. She then talked about HTML Boilerplates, First I do not know what are boilerplate but later on I was be able to know what are boilerplates. Boilerplate is a unit of writing that can be reused over and over without change. Boilerplate helps you build fast, robust, and adaptable web apps or sites. For the CSS Preprocessors, A CSS preprocessor helps you write maintainable, future-proof code and it will seriously reduce the amount of CSS you have to write. Where these tools shine best are in large-scale user interfaces that require huge stylesheets and many style rules. We learned a lot about front end developing and we can really use what we learned in our future and current projects.

Third Speaker

The third speaker was Mr. Nikko Comidoy or simply Kuya Nikko. Kuya Nikko is also an alumnus from the university. He is well known for his application named "Doc Banana" in which he and his team won in a competition. I was so amazed and inspired with he’s speech. Unlike in the other speakers he doesn’t have any powerpoint presentation but the knowledge that I have acquired to me can be really helpful in my journey in the University. I really hope I would be successful like Mr.Nikko.

TRAVEL REPORT
September 7 – 11, 2015

Seminar Overview

The Field Trip and Seminar course has given me a lot of memorable and unforgettable experiences. The course has also taught me lessons and inspired me to do better in my studies to be successful. The 5 days field trip was really worth it because I learned not only my possible future field of expertise but also I learned some History. We toured different companies that are related to our course and I was not disappointed because I really learned a lot from them.
The company visits were very fruitful to our knowledge at the same time we were having fun and interaction within our friends.  During our FTS we also have tourist attraction tours after our company visits, and some wondering around in their recreational buildings such as malls, parks, and outposts and other tourist spots. We also learned a lot of the lifestyle you have to take in Manila, and how fast paced kind of lifestyle is a must to have when you decide to live there. The Field Trip and Seminar was really a success.

Day 1
On our first day of FTS, we landed in NAIA Terminal 3 and we arrived earlier than the schedule and we used the shuttle bus because the tunnel is being repaired. After we got our baggage, we had a headcount and we are ready to go. We waited outside the terminal for the buses and we had to wait for the buses because we arrived earlier than expected. We headed to McDonalds for our breakfast.
Today, I went on a seminar to the Department of Science and Technology Main Office at Bicutan, Taguig and the Social Security System Main Office at East Avenue, Quezon City

What I learned?

I have learned more about Project NOAH (Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards). It is a project made by the partnership of UP and DOST, they made this project because of the recent calamity that hits in our country like flood. It’s a map of the country that views every place with their specific weather.
The best feature of this project was it can search specific place in the country and calculates what will be the weather of the day.  They also showed us their prototypes and devices used to calculate . Other than flood, it can also show the path being taken by the typhoon and the rainfall level. He even showed us some simulation made by Project NOAH when some typhoons hit the places in Mindanao. He said that the idea of project NOAH will be very helpful in times of disaster preparedness.

What I liked?

I liked the seminar at the Department of Science and Technology because I learned a lot from them and I also liked their offices because they are surrounded by nature and there are so many trees.  I also liked the food in our lunch and I didn’t get the root beer drink which is disgusting. I also liked the SSS seminar because their building is tall and there are lots of paintings which are very expensive.

After the educational tour of the day, we went shopping at TriNoma and I like it because we had the chance rest from a long day tour. After that we had our first buffet dinner and I like the food very much because it’s unlimited.

What I didn’t like?

I didn’t like that we had to transfer bus because our bus got flat .I didn’t liked the inside of TriNoma mall because it smells bad and too polluted. I also didn’t liked that  they just told us the importance of having SSS as an employee. Though the speaker from I guess the IT department, shared the history of the database of SSS has grown into up until now.

DAY 2

Today, I went on a seminar to the PLDT Innolab at Mandaluyong City and IBM Philippines, Ayala Techno-Hub, Quezon City.

What I learned?

What I learned about the PLDT Innolab visit was the history of PLDT and how they managed to make their company strong throughout the years. I also learned that PLDT played an important role in communication especially in the war.  The tour guide was very cheerful and explains very well. She shared a lot about the PLDT history from its pioneering years up until now. They showed some of their offices. There was an office which is so home-like because of its interior design. She also showed us the board room where we can see the control room of PLDT. The speaker from their department told us that the reason why is that so and it was because they uses FIBR as its cable.

I also learned many things in the IBM Philippines tour, such as the Internet of Things and their cloud technology Bluemix. I learned that cloud technology is very awesome and useful. However, the Bluemix is very expensive. The speaker had a demonstration on how the internet of things works and he used his mobile phone to manipulate those LED lights.

What I liked?

I really liked everything this day because I learned a lot of new things and the destinations of our tour are really related to our course. In the PLDT Innolab, we also had a glimpse of the control room where the exchanges of data from different networks from different places around the country are monitored. We also visited the exhibit room where the partner companies of PLDT and a lot more had their units inside as display. I also liked the time when we called the PLDT Innolab in Davao to try their video conference.

On our IBM tour, I liked their building because it’s very clean and simple. I also liked the discussion because the topic is easy to understand and interesting.

What I didn’t like?
I didn’t like that we had to eat our lunch in the bus while travelling and it is the most annoying thing. I also didn’t like that we didn’t received souvenir lanyards because the stock hasn’t arrived yet.

DAY 3
Today, I went on a seminar at the SMX Convention Center for the 13th Youth 4 IT Conference.

What I learned?
I learned many things from different speakers. I also learned that different expertise in the IT world that shared their experiences in the business. Oracle shared their version of internet of things just like what IBM have. A game designer also shared his experience on how he is doing well on his profession

What I liked?
What I like about this day is that when visited each booth in the exhibit. I got too many freebies for every booth. We had to gather signatures from every booth so that we can have their freebies and will be able to finish the activity on that notebook we had. I liked that I got freebies like key chains and stickers.
I also liked the lunch because it’s just near the venue and the food was great. I also liked that we had a chance to tour SM MOA with my friends and we got confused in where to go so we watched the ice skating.
After the SM MOA, I liked that we had to stop by in the Luneta Park to take some pictures and I also like that our tour guide taught us some history  while we are on our way to tutuban. I like the products in tutuban because they are very affordable and there are many variety of products.

What I didn’t like?
I didn’t like that the bus didn’t come back on schedule and we waited for so long to get our bags and we can’t continue in the booths because our notebooks are in our bags. And we were told that the bus got stuck on the heavy traffic. So, we have no other choice and we decided to go on and buy some shirts.

DAY 4
Today, I went on a seminar to the MMDA (Metro Manila Development Authority) Center at EDSA Makati.

What I learned?

I learned in the seminar at the MMDA where they handle the traffic situation around Manila. The speakers were able to introduce to us the basic functions of the traffic lights colors and how they are monitored for each transition. They also showed us real time road situation around the metro. With the modern technology, their video shots on the road were so clear that even the smallest creatures can be captured. They have the camera which can rotate for a full 360 degrees and capture the whole situation. They showed us some scenarios, good and bad, for us to know what the capabilities of the cameras. They showed some road accidents that were horrible, their traffic enforcers caught doing dirty jobs and an enforcer who really made his job whether he’s going to sacrifice his life. Their cameras can also zoom in to specific areas. Some of their cameras has low quality because it runs on WiMax while the other has higher quality.

What I liked?
I like that the MMDA explained their services offered very well and I really liked today is that we have our pure pleasure time after the MMDA office visit. Our out of town trip this field trip. The road trip was long too and I enjoyed watching the sceneries. I also like the pitching activity in the bus while travelling because our facilitator really gave effort and allowed my other classmates to pitch in the bus while we are travelling.
I also liked the view in Tagaytay and I also liked their products in there such as the buko pie and some souvenir items.  I also liked the enchanted kingdom ride all you can because it was really worth it because we have tried almost all the extreme rides. I also like that we repeated a ride 2x just to get even wet.  I also like that I was able to sleep very well in the bus due to exhaustion .

What I didn’t like?
I didn’t liked that we got wet and we don’t have some extra pants to change and fortunately I brought a shirt and I changed pants earlier before going.

DAY 5
Today, I went on a seminar at the University of the Philippines – Diliman Department of Computer Science.
What I learned?
I learned that UP Diliman is too big and they use jeepney to go from one college to another. I also learned many things in this seminar held at UP especially at the department of computer science is that there were different fields of study according to the student’s expertise.  Some students explained their field and showed us some of their projects. I have learned that in UP they don’t offer the course of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) they only offer Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS). Also I learned that they have different special room of student that the student may choose

What I liked?
I liked that they showed us some of their laboratories, libraries, and classrooms though some of these facilities had classes on going that is why we were just on the outside and we just had a glimpse on the facilities inside the laboratories. I like their laboratories because they got good system units unlike the Jurassic computers in USEP.

What I didn’t like?
I didn’t like that we only visited one college and I also didn’t like it because I thought all along that we were going to experience their facilities because some classes were going on. The thing that I don’t like in the visit in the University of the Philippines is the tour in the different department of the schools because they don’t allow us to enter. I expect that I would see nearer the facilities they have. And I was disappointed on those things.

 APPENDIX
What can I recommend for the improvement of the advance seminar program of USEP?
I recommend that they choose the companies to visit very wisely and I recommend in the improvement in the advance seminar program of USEP is, I want that they will hold meeting ahead of time so that the student can prepare ahead of time. They must choose the best companies that they will choose. So that students may learn many things in the trip. Also I hope that each student must come to the meetings. I also recommend that they must always submit the necessary documents as soon as possible.

My advice to those who will take their advance seminar program in the near future.

My advice is to tell their parents as early as possible to prepare for the amount because the amount paid was really huge but it was all worth it, worth every peso. On the road moments will always be the most amazing part since you will get to bond with your classmates and just have inside the bus or just fall asleep. Just prepare yourselves because even though this trip is very much enjoyable, it is also very exhausting. Visiting different companies does not only give you lessons in relation to your courses but also the life lessons shared by the speakers and even the tour guides. You just got to be careful on your valuables and even health. Don’t you dare try being sick while on this event because you’ll miss the fun and being tired at the same time. And also, just bring the things you’ll need for the entire trip, forget those unnecessary. And have fun; enjoy every momentum since not all can have this kind of events during their college days. Lastly I recommend that you must be friendly to your companions especially the higher years because you can get new friends in this field trip just like I did.

Paper 3 (Interpersonal and Team Building)

In our interpersonal skills I have learned to communicate and reach out other people. I know that some of my classmates are Computer Science student and I am not that close to them as well to my other classmates in FTS but by the help of interpersonal skills I have learned to pay attention to them, communicate to them and make them as my new friends. In our interpersonal skills, new friendship are born because if you are willing to make friends with them you will enjoy the activity because all of my classmate are fun to be with even though they are noisy and happy sometimes but I still love them. In our interpersonal activity I learn to widen my network of friends since I am an introvert person but with the help of our interpersonal activity I have learned to communicate to them. In our interpersonal skills I have learned to respect other people, respect our differences and uniqueness. I have learned to believe in myself more and to pay attention to the people around me. We started to brainstorm for us to have a common goal for the expectations we are expecting for this team building. Fun. Meet new friends. Build trust with each other.
These are some of our expectations for this event. Cliche as it may seem but it is the simplest words to describe our expectations. The six of us has the same thoughts also. Asking what is our mood for the day? We are determined. We are determined to achieve all our expectations throughout the day. A picture of an elephant, and we are asked how many legs we see in the pictures. Some answered four; others answer 6 and many other opinions. And the next picture is she presented a duck picture but later on I can see and image of a rabbit. Also she presented a picture with an old woman and a young woman in the same image of a person. In that activity, each of us has different perspective in every picture, we have different opinions and different ideas. I have learned in that activity to be open-minded person, because it doesn’t mean that you only see one picture that is only thing you can see, there are many hidden things in this world that you need to think and discover. Being open minded on the things would help you a lot on the things that you don’t know. I can also relate to this activity is the lesson I get from our instructor that we need to think out of the box. Also I have also realize that I also need to share ideas and willing to listen from the ideas of my fellow classmate or even in different person, because acquiring knowledge from others is a lot better for you to be able to know new ideas. And also by this you can also think different possibilities that may occur. I want to apply this lesson in the field trip and seminar. We were given a piece of paper that contains a drawing of a tree, with different kids drawn at the different parts of the trees. There are children smiling at the bottom or the roots of the trees, there is a child who is climbing the trees, there are two kids on the left swinging, and many more.
I looked at it and I looked at the title. I think the title was “Who am I on the tree”, or something close to this title. The next activity took place in the afternoon and we were regrouped into different groups, so I ended up with a different set of group mates. We were needed to draw something that our runner tells us from the one who watches the drawing. There is a drawing at the back side, with 1 watcher per group looking at the drawing. The runner is the one who listens to the instructions of our watcher then he sends what he heard to us, the drawers. We were awkward at first but we decided to pick someone who could draw better than anyone else in the group, because most of us couldn’t draw well. Our best drawer started to draw the basic instructions of the runner. This time, it’s personal and individual. We were grouped into 12 groups and I ended up with 2 other guys. We showed our drawings and explained the reason behind it. Our drawings were a representation of our dinner table, with a square, circle or rectangular picture drawn at the center and was surrounded with figures or shapes. These shapes were representation of the members in the dinner table. I forgot my drawing but I’m sure I learned something from the two other members of the group. The other was says that he was just fine, his family is fine and their dinner table were not that kind of sad. The other guy said that he is the joker of their family, and the center of the table was a serving spoon, with his dad drawn as the hammer of justice. He explained further that when there are visitors, especially classmates that visit him at the house, they should use the serving spoon. Because his father is so strict about that and his father creates the rule of the family, so he drew him as the hammer of justice. When I started explaining, I realized something I did not know or a fact that I did just ignored for many years we believed that our drawing was close to the original drawing that we were supposed to copy. When the drawing was revealed, only one group got it so close while the others are pretty far from the original drawing. We then shared our experiences and learning and most of them said that the instructions that the runners send to the drawers were almost similar. When I was called to answer, I told them what I have learned and pointed out the possible cause of error. It would be our different perspectives. If someone says or describes something, people may ended up thinking with different images, based from their different perspective and beliefs. It was not the error of the runner neither to our watcher. It was just we had a different perspective. What I learned here is that I should have been the one who was watching the picture, like what I have thought earlier while the game or activity rules is being discussed. Because what I believed earlier were close enough to what have happened right now. It was just I lacked the force to do it. I have the courage but I decided to let others do it, if they want. Maybe because I wanted someone to do it if they wanted it, or maybe I was lazy at that time since it was the time where I sleep in the afternoon. Either way, it was nobody’s fault when we lost. She instructed that we should choose, one of us should be a runner, one will be the seer and others will be the doer.
I and my team members is very confused what will be the activity. She told the rules of each of us. The seer will be the only person who can see the picture, and the seer is on the other side of the social hall, where we cannot see his or his. Then the runner will be going to go back and fort to ask questions from the seer. And the rule of the doers is to draw the picture that only the seer can tell. And when the activity has start, our group makes a plan what to do, while our runner is asking question on the seer, we the doer also thinks what is the possible outcome of the picture. Every one of us participated. If we have question we do not hesitate to ask question. We also share different ideas. And in the end, we won the said activity. Our facilitator asked what are our techniques why we won on the activity; one of my co-member answers is we planed and we think the best solution to the problem. And we work together to achieved the goals that we want.
In the field trip and seminar, I think that we need to apply what we do in my group. We need to think and planned if there is a problem in us and we need to work as a group. Because we do not go there as an individual we will go there bringing the name of our department and our university therefore we go there as a team. And as a team, we need to contribute and participate in the activity that will happen. We should not make any mistake in there because we are bringing the pride of USEP. Going to the Manila is not an easy event, and therefore we must be prepared of the possibilities that may come to us and we need to have a defensive tactics that we need to prepare. And if there is any way to improve myself, I have to look at the positive side of life. I also have to be myself, which is what I am doing most of the time, because I know that I don’t have to be someone who is not really me. My friends advised me to meet new people, especially people with different attitude, because if I do that, I will be having a wider range of ideas on how to deal with different types of person, and it will also expose me to some things that may help me to become a better person. I also need to have a sense of humor. That is one of my biggest problems, as being a person. I should also find time to have fun with all of what I am doing. I should not take things seriously at all times. I should be with people who always look life in a positive way. Because being with them will also make me become an optimistic person. I should always be with those people who always encourage me to do things that I usually don’t do. And the last thing that I should do to improve my personality composition and ideas that you have you need it to share to others so that the group would come up a better solution. I have discovered many things which include my false first impressions for my classmates. I thought that my classmates in the evening section were serious enough in dealing many things especially in terms of academics and of course in terms of dealing with the said activity but the great thing is they are more fun to be with in reality. They are cool and funny not like the one that I thought about them. Through that activity we were able to voice out our expectations about the activity. During our sharing, the fun started and it was because of the fact that we are all have the same thing within us that we understand each other’s emotions. The thing I expected that the interpersonal skills seminar and the team building was very helpful for us individuals especially to the participants of the field trip because this will help us in knowing ourselves better than before and I can probably say that I really found myself through this activity. Earlier, I had the chance to share to the class my thoughts about a certain phrase that our speaker has given us.
I have spoken by my heart and it really feels good to speak in front of many people about what you think about a certain topic. I am really thankful that I’ve joined this activity because I’ve really learned a lot throughout the whole activity was is has to be fun, I get the chance to get to know more better my classmates .

Paper 2 (Plane Ride Expectation)

It would really be a dream come true to ride the airplane and appreciate the view above even though all you can see are the clouds, sky, sun or moon. First time or not, you would always be fascinated by this view because it is not all the time that you are given a chance to fly in the sky. Some might say that it is boring because there is nothing up there just clouds and sky. This would be my second time to ride, and yes, after many years of not being able to ride it. I feel like a child who is excited to ride an airplane. It would like the first time that I will be able to ride again. Call me ignorant, but during my first time to ride an airplane I think that was between 8-10 years ago.. I was really happy at that time because I will be riding an airplane. But unfortunately, I was not able to appreciate the view. Travel jitters are like nervous feeling that we can experience due to excitement. I do have a lot of expectations in this first trip on air. One thing is for sure; I won’t be able to sleep early or won’t be able to sleep at all. This may be funny but another one is that I am so excited and eager to know, feel and experience this one thing they call jet lag. I know that it would be somehow impossible because it will just be a short flight, compared to travelling outside the country, but I am still hoping that I will be able to feel that, pessimistic may be, but yes I want it to happen. I always wonder how taking off feels like, as I have seen in a lot of movies that included a scene in an airplane that is taking off, some people can be very nervous and some excited. I always think of it as a similar feeling when you are riding a roller coaster, when the roller coaster is going up, you would feel that your head may be popping in any moment, but still it is worth the experienceRiding for the first time in a plane is such a great experience to have. At last I can now experience the feeling of flying and see the cities from the sky. I thought riding on a plane could just be turn into reality if I become a professional someday. Because for now, aside from financial matters I don’t have the time of giving so much leisure time for myself for I was busy being a working student that is hard for me to apply time management and self-discipline. As I’m expecting since then upon riding on a plane, that it would be adventurous in the case that you are most likely having a great fun with your friends. The feeling of like taking your inner most part of the body when the plane takes off is such an adventurous experience to have. Back then, I was curious of what should be the inside look of a plane of how they should manipulate things inside for the fact that it is a flying vehicle. I was thinking of should they not be afraid of possible things might happen like plane crash? The safety of passengers now belongs to the pilot that is in charge of operating the plane, they are the ones who is pro in how airplanes works and how it should be taken care of in case of unexpected things might happened. Even though it’s my first time to ride on a plane, I was still thinking of positive things than of negative thoughts. I cannot let myself overpower the thought of negative things so that I am not that anxious and be afraid when that time comes. Just imagine the feeling of flying with having a great view from the window that the clouds are reachable and as white as snow it could be. There is nothing wrong of thinking negative thoughts but you should have the guts to control it, not to let you swallow your negativity towards any other things that is somehow impossible to happen. If negativity is one of your major concerns in riding a plane then you should not let anybody feel the same way. I never lose my expectation of having the feeling of heaven is in reach when riding a plane for you can actually see the clouds right in front of you comparing when you are below the sky level. You only watch the sky far from above and imagining that you are flying within the clouds. They say, first riding on a plane leaves a last impression after.  One of the passengers who is first time to ride on a plane have this unforgettable experience of like “That first roller-coaster feeling that hits your stomach when the plane sometimes drops suddenly during turbulence. That sensation still gets me today, but it's altogether different when you're not expecting the plane to do that.” It is being in the back of their minds the experience of having the last impression of first riding on plane. Maybe others have not the same impression as what from the unknown passenger was telling about.  Why? It was because our flight was in the evening and talk about the wrong timing when we arrived in Manila it was raining. It was totally not worth it for me. And another reason, why I did not enjoy my first airplane ride was because I fell asleep while we were flying. It was an epic fail on my part. That is the reason behind that I did not appreciate my first airplane ride. Flying for the first time can be an unnerving experience. It's hard to know what to expect, and even the smallest occurrences can be confusing or stressful. The key to a successful first flight is to relax and be prepared. If you can, talk with others who have been on a plane so you can hear about their experiences and better understand the feeling of flying. For a first-time flyer, air travel can seem like a daunting task. Where do you buy a ticket? What happens when you get to the airport? Do you need identification? Although the options and questions seem endless, there is no need to worry: as long as you can read and ask questions, you can successfully fly. However, we are thankful to have the Maynilad Tour Agency in accompanying us in our journey to Metro Manila. In order to make my first flight less stressful, it is very helpful to have an idea of what to expect.  When we were going back to Davao from Manila, I could say the view was so beautiful. The city light’s is like a large blanket of lights. It was so beautiful. Seeing it through my window when we were going back, it was really beautiful. You could not compare this view to when we were going to Manila. I really made sure that this time I was not able to fall asleep during the trip.  I am excited, because I will be riding the plane with my classmates and professors going to Manila. I am also nervous, because it would be my first time to ride the airplane without my family. I am looking forward to the things that would most likely happen. Even if it is not my first time to ride the airplane, I still feel the huge excitement that the plane ride will be bringing. Wear shoes you can get in and out of quickly, as they'll also need to be taken off. Don't carry sharp objects, like tweezers or nail scissors, which aren't allowed. Also, keep your ID and ticket in an easily accessible spot so they can be shown when needed. Bring Gum. When your plane climbs to high altitudes, painful ears might follow.  Of course, before riding the airplane there are some steps that we should do before the authorities will let us ride it. First and foremost, before you can go inside, you should check-in before your scheduled flight. As far as I can remember if your flight is domestic, you should be in the airport two hours before your flight. So in our case, we need to be there early in the morning so that we can gather up and not be late for our flight because our field trip follows a schedule which means we cannot be late for our appointments with the companies we wanted to visit. Due to a change in air pressure, the eustachian tube, which connects the ear to the soft pallet, might be unable to open, causing discomfort. To avoid this, chew a piece of gum during takeoff, as the movement in your jaw helps the offending tube contract, bringing relief. If you're flying with a baby, bring a bottle and fill it with water on the plane, as sucking on it has a similar effect. Staying Healthy in the Air. To stay hydrated, drink plenty of water while flying. Avoid consuming excessive alcoholic beverages, which have a stronger affect due to changes in air pressure and dehydration, a common side effect of flying It is wonderful for it will serve us food maybe inside the airplane. But I know it will not going to work for the plane that we are riding is not private plane. I hope so that in my first time riding an airplane it has a memory to treasure. Memory that I can share to my family when I come back to Davao. I know all those words are negative impact about Manila. But all those opinions about Manila are true. Staying in Manila for a short period of time is big memories that we can treasure for it can make us feel that we used to live in Manila for short time. And staying there for a short period of time has learning’s. We did not go to Manila for just staying for a vacation instead we stay in Manila for our Filed Trip and Seminars.  And also for this activity or subject we can compare thing between from ours to them. And for staying longer in Manila is hesitant to stay for you are not suit to their surroundings. You are not used to their lifestyle as well their time there is fast approaching. The technologies in Manila also are growing. If it is your first time riding a plane, Before you can go for departure, you will have to submit yourself for inspection. You will be inspected thoroughly for safety measures implemented the authorities; it is also to avoid criminals and terrorists going in and out of the city. You will have to weigh the bags that you will be carrying to your destination. If you will weigh excess of the allotted free weight allowed to be carried, you will have to pay the excess; I think the payment is per kilogram excesses. So, it is better to practice light travelling to avoid spending on paying the excess weight of your luggage. You should not really mind the turbulence if there will be some. If one is nervous, learn to relax because you will not be able to enjoy your first plane ride, the same goes to the ones who will ride the plane again. Learn to enjoy this opportunity. It is because it is not all the time that you can ride the airplane with your friends and professors. Also, this is a good experience for us, so when the time comes we will not be ignorant about flying in the airplane. Even if it is not my first time to ride the airplane, I still feel the huge excitement that the plane ride will be bringing. Maybe it will bring thrills of excitement because it is not always that we can ride the airplane like a jeepney.

Paper 1 (FTS Model)

What's your preferred FTS model why?
When I first saw the subject Field Trip and Seminars in the prospectus, I got excited and inspired to reach 3rdyear and experience that subject.  The FTS subject has been my inspiration to study hard and avoid failures.  I got interested and excited in this subject because from the title itself Field Trip and Seminars, It’s a trip in the field! I really like field trips because aside from the adventure and fun, I can learn a lot of educational stuffs. My last field trip happened when I was in Grade 2 and  I really hope I can learn a lot of things in this field trip.  So earlier this year we have been informed that all incoming 3rd year student that will possibly take FTS must choose from the 3 models that have been proposed.  Model A, Model B, Model C.  The Model A is composed of 1 Major Fieldtrip (outside Mindanao) + 1 minor fieldtrip (within Mindanao). While in Model B it is composed of 1 Major Fieldtrip (outside Mindanao) + 2 minor fieldtrip (within Mindanao). And lastly the Model C which is composed of 3 Minor fieldtrips (Mindanao). When I first read the choices I have already decided that I would choose Model A and the moment I chose it my decision was final and irrevocable even though I am not the one who will decide what to choose on that survey. I explained the choices to my parents very well with bias for Model A of course.  They didn’t complained much and understood it easily because since I was in first year I already informed them that there will be a field trip when I reach third year level and when I was in second year I reminded them again so I really gave them lot of time to prepare for the money, I was that excited for the field trip. So my preferred model is obviously model A because the 3 models are like different slices of pizza with Model A with the largest size and more cheese and more toppings, Model B with less size but with cheese and toppings, Model C with less size and less cheese and less toppings.  All pizzas are delicious but I prefer the largest size and more cheese and more toppings because why not? In my opinion I prefer choosing the best choice among the rest. Since Luzon particularly Manila is more advance in terms of innovation and progress, I would really want to explore it in an educational way. I have been to Manila already many times and I am not really interested anymore in experiencing life there, I want to learn something in there. I came from a simple family to choose Model A which is very expensive, but I have let my family prepared for it for a long time. I preferred Model A because this model has a very wide scope of learning possibilities. In Model A there are lots of companies to visit and I am really interested in exploring these companies because I think I would really learn a lot from those companies. I am also excited for the Y4IT event because it would really be nice to meet other students from other schools and hopefully learn a lot from them and in the event. I would also like to learn to socialize with other people. I am glad that majority chose the Model A because a lot of us really wanted to learn more.
I also chose model A because I think that having road trips in Luzon is safer than Mindanao because there might be rebels along the way during the trip and Luzon is also dangerous because of the strong earthquake that might possibly occur during the field trip. I also chose model A because I think it will teach me how to be independent and behave properly for 5 days. Model A is more expensive than the other Models but I can say that Model A is really worth it because it’s really the ultimate educational field trip. Most chose model A because of the plane ride and shopping and tour in Manila and it is really part of the fun in field trip but we must always remember the real purpose of the field trip and that is for educational purposes. I really want to make this very expensive field trip worth it. I also chose model A because it’s really a good opportunity for me to improve a lot of things about myself such as socializing with other people, manners, and attitude. I really want to make the most of this very expensive field trip and not waste it. I hope that I can learn and experience a lot of lessons not only in academic but in the real life. I really expect that after this field trip something will change and give me additional experiences and lessons that I would really apply. Model A is just the best choice because there’s more in model A than in model B and model C. I still think that Model B and Model C are good because there are also companies in Mindanao that can give us experience and the cost will not be too expensive but in my opinion if we dream, we must dream big and aim higher. I really believe that model A is really good and hopefully I made the right choice and I will learn a lot and experience more things and improve myself to apply it in the real world. I believe that by the help of this field trip I will be a better student and learn from other students. I also believe that after this field trip I will be endowed with more knowledge and experience to apply not only in academics but also in real life. I really hope that this field trip will be successful and fun and adventurous and fun again.
